I’m Saved.  So What?  The Journey.

On this journey which we call the Christian life, we sometimes find ourselves distracted, confused, or ignorant of what actually took place when God’s Spirit made us new creations with a purpose of transforming us into the image of His Son.

During the Sunday School hour each week, we will discover that believers are saved for Christ and in Christ, we matter to this world, the Church and to God.  Christianity was never meant to be an individualized pursuit of truth but rather a continual dependence on other believers and a complete dependence on God.

I believe the Journey of what it means to walk with God is the most exciting and empowering of all life’s adventures.”

Book of Acts – Inductive Study

Christendom today is in every corner of the earth.   There are hundreds of denominations that serve millions of people.  Ever wonder how the church all got started?   Ever wondered what it was like in the early church?  What was it like to be the apostles starting the church under the threats of Rome?  What was it like to be Paul sharing the news of “The Way” to those early churches in the Mediterranean area?

Fulton Church will again be offering an inductive Bible Study of the book of Acts where we will spend time answering these questions.  We will pick up in the 2nd half of Acts, but anyone new is welcome to join in.  This class is open to all participants – it does not matter your level of experience in Inductive Bible Study.  Those who have never studied the Bible before will be given a hands-on training in how to read, study and apply the Scripture to their lives.   Experienced individuals in Inductive Bible Study will have a chance to further develop their skills.

2017/2018 Class Handouts

Josh Bilhorn will be teaching this course.  Josh has 18 years experience with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and has taught the Inductive Bible Study method to hundreds of college students.  Be prepared to not only learn how to read and study more deeply, but be prepared to have some fun as you study this gospel in community with others.  You can reach him at jbilhorn@gmail.com or (608) 745-7981.

Graced-Based Parenting

Goals for the study are to:

  1. Connect Fulton parents with others at a similar stage of life.
  2. Provide parents with a thoughtful, proactive approach to parenting, as parenting may be the greatest responsibility God has given us.
  3. Learn to know God better as we consider not only how we parent our children, but also how our Heavenly Father parents us.

Each week during the Sunday School hour, we’ll watch a 15-20 minute video and then have time for small group discussion as we consider how to apply a grace based approach in our own homes.  Those who are interested may also enjoy reading the companion book or listening to an abridged version on Audible.

Jeremy bilhornj@milton.k12.wi.us (608) 438-4842, and Anna Bilhorn annabilhorn@gmail.com (608) 279-0671 are facilitating this Christian parenting class using the book and video series, Grace-Based Parenting by Tim Kimmel.

Biblical Answers

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to sit in a graduate level Bible course and have the opportunity to interrupt at any time to ask a question, offer a thought or get comments from those who are seasoned Christians in class? Or be given the option to be given note cards so you can submit questions that will be answered? That is the flavor of Norm’s Sunday School Class for Adults who are interested in understanding how the Bible applies to our lives.

Norms’ class provides an interesting mix of input from the class including questions and responses and teaching that is aimed at Bible College or Seminary class level instruction.

The following questions will be addressed in Norm’s class for 2017.

  • What is our future here on earth and beyond for those who come to a saving belief?
  • When we die, what do we know about where we are headed as Christians and believers in Jesus?
  • How does our understanding of Heaven compare to what the Scriptures actually say about Heaven?
  • Why does God allow suffering?
  • How can a loving God send someone to Hell?
  • How can I know God’s will for my life?
  • How can I find the “peace that passes all understanding” in my life that the Bible promises when my life is so stressful and complicated?

Norm Fjelstad has been leading this class for 29 years and it continues to be relevant for our lives.  You can contact Norm at norman.fjelstad@gmail.com or (608) 772-9400.
